The Problem We Solve

Solving Control Problems in Hybrid Microgrids

Hardware is rarely why microgrids underperform — control is. AMS is engineered around the control failures our engineers have diagnosed across more than 100 project sites:

✓

Circulating currents between clusters. Paralleled battery clusters without cluster-level control fight each other, overheat and age unevenly. One cluster, one controller isolates each cluster and eliminates the circulation path.

✓

Vendor finger-pointing. Gen-set vendor, PCS vendor, battery vendor, integrator — when the plant misbehaves, everyone blames everyone. A self-developed control core means one engineering line owns the whole response.

✓

Blind plants. Operators discover faults from smell or downtime. More than 150 diagnosed items with local and remote monitoring turn the plant from a black box into an observable system.

✓

Manual dispatch waste. Operators starting gensets on habit instead of load. AMS schedules storage operation remotely and dispatches active power against real demand and price signals.

✓

Off-grid instability. Solar fluctuation crashing weak grids. Grid-forming / VSG control keeps frequency and voltage stable through cloud transients and load steps.

✓

Regional compliance drift. Grid codes differ by country and keep evolving. The design philosophy is standard specification — the system is configured to the standards of your country and region.

Engineering Note — grid-following vs grid-forming (VSG). A grid-following inverter synchronizes to an existing grid and injects power — fine behind a stable utility. A grid-forming inverter (VSG mode) establishes its own voltage and frequency reference, which is what an islanded microgrid needs when the genset stops or solar collapses. AMS supports both; the Australia 1,000 kW / 1,290 kWh reference case runs VSG in a high-temperature environment. Specifying the wrong mode is the most common cause of unstable off-grid plants.

AMS Integrated Control vs Third-Party Integration vs Manual Operation

Application Cases — AMS in the Field

AMS runs plants across four continents. Three cases that show the control core doing its job:

Malaysia

1.5 MW / 2.6 MWh · cluster control

Seven ALEO 215 kW PCS units each connected to a dedicated battery cluster. The one-cluster-one-controller architecture enables precise cluster-level management and prevents circulating currents.

7 controllers one per cluster · no circulating currents

Improved system safety, stability and efficiency across the plant.

Estonia

2,250 kW PCS · PV smoothing

A traditional photovoltaic plant operator commissioned AMS-controlled PCS capacity to solve the stability problems caused by the intermittency and volatility of solar generation.

2,250 kW PCS capacity for solar smoothing

Improved energy efficiency and self-sufficiency of the PV plant.

Australia

1,000 kW / 1,290 kWh · VSG

A VSG-mode ESS operating in a high-temperature environment — the grid-forming case that proves islanded stability where air-cooled, grid-following systems fail.

VSG grid-forming in high temperature

Stable frequency and voltage through solar transients.

Why control quality shows up in ROI. Industry studies consistently attribute a large share of storage-project underperformance to control and dispatch issues — cycling at the wrong times, clusters aging unevenly, gensets running on habit. A control core that prevents circulating currents, diagnoses more than 150 fault items and dispatches against real signals protects both availability and battery life. These are industry-wide patterns, not ALEO POWER guarantees — every quotation includes a sized analysis of your dispatch strategy.
Compliance

Certifications & Compliance

AMS is configured to the standards of your country and region as a core design principle — the certification documentation set ships with the plant.

Procurement Guide

Procurement Guide — Pricing · Lead Time · Integration

AMS ships integrated with ALEO POWER hardware — it is not sold as standalone software. Final pricing reflects plant scale, control scope and integration work, itemized line-by-line in the quotation.

Pricing Factors

Plant capacity, number of clusters and controllers, dispatch scope (monitoring through demand response), display options and grid-code configuration.

Indicative Lead Time

Average manufacturing time is 35 days. Control configuration is completed and FAT-tested at the factory before shipment.

Minimum Order

AMS is integrated from a single cabinet upward — there is no separate minimum for the control core.

Installation

Control commissioning confirms the factory-tested configuration on site: cluster mapping, protection settings, monitoring links and dispatch schedules.

Operator Training

Two-track training — operations and preventive maintenance — so your staff can respond to diagnosed faults and run dispatch schedules independently.

Warranty & Support

Five-year system warranty with lifetime remote engineering support — one manufacturer owns the plant response, end to end.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about the control core and how it ships.

Can I buy AMS as standalone software for my existing plant?+

No — AMS ships integrated with ALEO POWER hardware, from a single cabinet to a multi-container plant. This is deliberate: a control core that also owns the PCS, BMS and battery data can guarantee behavior end to end, which standalone software cannot.

What does one cluster, one controller actually prevent?+

When battery clusters are paralleled without cluster-level control, voltage differences drive circulating currents between clusters — energy wasted as heat, uneven aging, and a safety risk. Giving each cluster its own controller isolates the clusters; the architecture is proven in the Malaysia 1.5 MW / 2.6 MWh plant.

Can AMS run my plant off-grid without a diesel genset?+

In VSG (grid-forming) mode, AMS-controlled inverters establish voltage and frequency, so a solar-plus-storage plant can run islanded. Sizing matters: the battery must cover night load and solar transients. Hybrid PV–ESS–diesel remains the safer choice for weak-solar seasons — the AMS dispatches the genset only when needed.

How does remote monitoring work in practice?+

Local monitoring runs on the plant HMI with an optional built-in LCD; remote access connects the plant to our engineering team for diagnosis, and to your operations desk for scheduling. Remote scheduling of storage operation and active-power dispatch are standard functions.

Which grid codes and standards do you support?+

Standard specification is a core design philosophy: the system is configured to the standards of your country and region. Documented configurations include CE / IEC 62477 conversion, IEC 62619 battery safety and NRS 097-aligned grid-connection support for South Africa. Confirm your market during quotation.

What happens when a fault is diagnosed?+

The tiered BMS and AMS classify the fault among more than 150 diagnosed items, respond automatically where safe (derating, cluster isolation), notify local and remote operators, and log the event in the operation data history for root-cause analysis.

What after-sales support does ALEO POWER provide?+

Five-year system warranty, lifetime remote engineering support, spare-parts recommendations at delivery, and operator training during commissioning — one manufacturer owns the whole plant response.
